Watson Anniversary – Marlon Saldanha’s 10th Work Anniversary

We’re here to celebrate a Watson anniversary – our Warehouse Manager at the Mississauga branch, Marlon Saldanha! He’s celebrating his 10 year work anniversary and we wanted to do a little Q&A.

What do you do at Watson Gloves?

I’m the Ontario Warehouse Manager and oversee all the operations of warehousing at the Mississauga branch and making sure everything runs smoothly – especially now!

How did you start your career here at Watson Gloves?

It’s a funny story. The courier driver I interacted with in my previous job knew I was looking for another job, as my previous company was planning to move their branch further away. He said Watson Gloves was looking for a Warehouse Associate, which was only a couple doors down from my previous job! So, I went to their warehouse, got interviewed, and in 2 days, I was hired. 10 years later, our branch has grown so much. When I was hired, I was the only warehouse guy there! Now, we have 8 people in the warehouse and the space is 10 times larger than the old building.

What’s your most memorable moment at Watson Gloves?

The 100th year anniversary party in 2018. I got to know so many employees from the other two branches. And I was also thrilled to see their fun side! I’ll never forget that. A really, really memorable moment.

How are operations in the warehouse during this pandemic?

I feel so safe and well taken care of by the company and this allows our warehouse to continue operating smoothly. For all of the warehouse people, the company constantly made sure we had the necessary resources and PPE to do the job, such as face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. And also giving face masks to all of our families too! Wow, that was a very special, kind gesture. They also do feedback surveys to check up on us. I don’t know how many others do that, but I think that has been very helpful for us.

What does Watson Family culture mean to you?

Watson Gloves is a family-run business. They truly treat every single employee like family no matter what your role is.
